Bengali scientist Ashoke Sen wins ‘Yuri Milner Fundamental Physics Prize’ along with other eight scientists around the globe for his contribution to fundamental physics especially his work on ‘string theory’. Ashoke Sen will get $ 30 lakh (Rs. 16.7 crore) which is almost three times more than Nobel Prize amount.
‘Theoretical physicist’ Ashoke Sen is the first Indian to receive this inaugurate lucrative award which starts from this year itself by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner for recognizing contributions of younger researchers to fundamental physics.
Ashoke Sen earlier received the Padma Shree in 2001 and the SS Bhatnagar Award in 1994.
