Sudden controversy emerges in batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar’s nomination to Rajya Sabha. A PIL was filed at The Delhi High Court challenging authenticity of Sachin’s nomination as the Rajya Sabha member. The Delhi High Court has issued notice to government and seeks explanation by July 5.
In a petitioner filed by former Delhi MLA Ram Gopal Singh Sisodia, had raised question regarding the authenticity of Sachin’s nomination as the Rajya Sabha member. The PIL said it is a violation of Article 80 of the Constitution as only people from art, science, literature and social services could be nominated and the sports does not mentioned as a category.
Ram Gopal Singh Sisodia challenged Sachin’s nomination and ask for restrain from taking oath. However the bench dismissed Sisodia plea.
“How is this sports category covered while nominating a sportsperson to the Rajya Sabha?” the bench ask the question to government and seeks reply by July 5.
