The fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 5) is struggling for viewership. According to TAM (Television Audience Measurement), the IPL 5 has only managed to get poor 3.76 average TVR (television ratings) in the first seven days, lowest ever in five years.
The opening ceremony of fifth season of Indian Premier League also hit new low with 1.3 TVR despite handful of glamorous stars’ presence and spectacular show-off.
TAM claimed that this year’s initial trend of TRP is alarming as the lesser people have turned on their TV Set for IPL 5 than ever in the tournament’s history.
Rohit Gupta, President, Sales & Revenue Management, Set Max, told Business Standard, “It’s too early to comment. The ratings are just for the six metros. We have to wait till Wednesday for all-India ratings. Those numbers will dramatically change.”
He is right, although there is some turmoil in the TRP, but the tournament has just started and its long way to go before comes to any conclusions.
