Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee in the 2008 elections and former Governor of Alaska, has threatened to sue Joe McGinnis – a well-known political writer – for his biography of Sarah Palin titled “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin” along with Crown Publishing (owned by the German conglomerate Bertelsmann AG) , the publishers of the book.
The book was released last week amidst reports that Palin would make a bid at being the presidential nominee of the Republican Party in the next presidential elections.
According to Palin, the book is peppered with “lies and rumors presented as fact”.
The book is substantially about Sarah Palin’s tenure as Mayor of Wasilla and the Governor of Alaska – though it does contain some routine. ostensibly sensational stuff about the private life of Sara.
While in some countries, the private lives of celebrities are nonchalantly ignored, in the US there has always been much more than a healthy interest in the personal lives of its celebrities. The timing of the book does certainly leave one wondering whether it is an attempt at truth for the sake of truth itself or an ill-concealed attempt at well-timed sensationalism with its own none too altruistic agenda.
