Japanese auto manufacturer giant Toyota Motor today unveiled world’s most fuel-efficient hybrid car, Aqua. The company is hoping to give solid competition to Nissan Motor’s Leaf and General Motor’s Chevrolet Volt.
Toyota named this car ‘Aqua’ in Japan and the ‘Prius C’ in overseas. Aqua has a fuel efficiency of 35.4 km/litre, thrashing the current top car Prius, which gives 32 km/litre.
Aqua will cost $21,600 (starting price) and Toyota is aiming for monthly Aqua sales of 12,000 units in Japan.
Toyota is planning to launch another 10 new gasoline-electric models by 2015.
