Reports are claiming that the iPhone 5 will launch on 5 September in the US and on 5th October in UK. There is no official confirmation yet from Apple.
Previously there were rumors of delay in launching iPhone 5 due to overheating of the dual-core Apple A5 chip that would power the iPhone 5.

But now the reliable sources are confirming that in this fall only Apple going to unveil iPhone 5 and on 5th October for the European launch of Apple’s latest phone.
