The Hollywood Industry as a whole halted after President Donald Trump imposed lockdown in The US. The sudden outbreak of Covid-19 has brought massive changes in the schedules of Hollywood movies. Many movie openings have been shifted and the release dates have been postponed. All the actors and actresses started staying indoors and even requested the people to follow the lockdown.
Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli’s movie “No Time to Die” has been shifted from April 2020 to November 2020. A tweet from the makers of the film read, “MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of the film will be postponed until November 2020.”
Many other movies such as ‘A Quiet Place 2’ and ‘F9’ release dates have been shifted too. The makers of Mission Impossible series stopped their shooting in Italy last month. The Venom movie sequel, entitled ” Venom 2: Let there be Carnage” has been shifted from 2nd October, 2020 to 25th June, 2021.
Apart from movies, the Film Festivals have started shifting their dates too. ‘Annecy Animations Film Festival’ has completely been cancelled. The news of the shifting of Cannes’ Film festival has also come into effect as the organisers have released a statement on the status of the Film Festival. “As of today, it is still premature to express assumptions on an event scheduled in two months and a half. In due course and depending on the occurrences, the ‘Festival de Cannes’ will naturally take all the necessary measures, aiming at ensuring the protection of all attendees and preserving their health during the event in Cannes, under the responsibility of public authorities, in particular the State and the City of Cannes,” a spokesperson told Variety.
Due to the lockdown, the entertainment industry has shut down more than 80 percent of the nation’s 6,000 movie theaters. According to sources the stock of the movie exhibitors will be hammered. The big filmmakers can survive after the lockdown but the small filmmakers will have to suffer a lot. They can be bankrupt as well. The lockdown has brought so many negative effects on the Hollywood Industry that it might take some 2-3 years to get healed and then rise back again.
