Longlist for the 1st Jayadev National Poetry Award has been declared by the Dhauli Review Trust, an organization devoted to Indian Art and culture. The award carrying a cash prize of Rs. 51,000, will be given to the best poetry book written in regional languages of India including English. The Award would be presented at the The Odisha Art & Literature Festival 2018 which would witness the presence of several eminent litterateurs including Manju Kapur, Mustafa Stitou, Amir Or Kala Ramesh, Kira Wuck, Dr. Helmuth A. Niederle and others.
In its maiden year, the response to this award is huge with participation of acclaimed publishers like Harper Collins, Rajkamal Prakashan, Poetrywala and many others.
The 12 Books selected in the longlist include A Name for Every Leaf by Ashok Vajpeyi, trans. Rahul Soni (Harper Collins Publishers), Bagban, Gulzar translates Tagore (Harper Collins Publishers), Dekhani by Bhalchandra Nemade (Rajkamal Prakashan), Cyborg Proverbs by Nitoo Das (Poetrywala), Banaras & the Other by Ashwani Kumar (Poetrywala), Seven Deaths & Four Scrolls by Anand Thakore ( Poetrywala), Aur Anya Kavitayen by Vishnu Khare (Rajkamal Prakashan ), Dhruv Tara Jal Mein by Vivek Nirala (Rajkamal Prakashan), Songs for Shiva-vacanas of Akka Mahadevi, trans. Vinaya Chaitanya(Harper Collins Publishers ), Selected Poems by Sananta Tanty, trans. Dibyajyoti Sarma (I write imprint ), Architecture of Flesh by Ra Sh (Poetrywala ), and Virta Par Vichalit by R Chetankaranti (Rajkamal Prakashan).
The short list shall be declared on 31ST December 2017 and final winner of the Award shall be declared on 15 January 2018.
The jury board consists of Noted Odia poet Rajendra Kishore Panda, eminent English poet Manohar Shetty and acclaimed Hindi poet Ashutosh Dubey.
