Chalochitro Charcha Production’s first short film “Kobitaay Keu Nei” was a good attempt by debutant team led by director Sanjib Kr Nath.
Based on author Rony Dasgupta’s dramatic story, “Kobitaay Keu Nei” focused on a man, played by Saikat Nandy who was worried for his wife’s (Debarati Ghosh) health. The 7-minute short-film carried a poignant story which rendered emotions and a gut-wrenching helplessness for a person, who could be anyone, even you and me. Rony’s story and Sanjib’s screenplay has managed to convey the alternative form of expression with striking ending.
The film delivered both conciseness and entertainment value. This was at par with the standard of any successful short-film. Made by a team of talented and passionate youngsters, “Kobitaay Keu Nei” managed to convey its message of loneliness and utter vulnerability in a person after losing the loved-ones.
The popularity of short filmmaking has been growing everywhere and this team has successfully caught the essence of filmmaking by using semi-professional camera, inexpensive equipment, low-cost technology and post-production editing.
Saikat Nandy has shown his potential to become a good actor. Debarati Ghosh had a very little to contribute, but was appropriate in her role. Sanjib Kr Nath handled sensitive subject matter with maturity and made a sensible film despite lower production cost.
There were few lapses by Chalochitro Charcha, especially in the camera work, but no one can doubt the innocence and pure intentions which it conveys. I would like to congratulate the team and wishes them to come up with many more such films.
