Ever since Apple CEO, Tim Cook has arrived in India, he has been all praise for the country. On a spiritual, technical and sportive level, he has been making the most of this Indian tour.
Expressing his opinion on the attitude of the people, in a recent interview with NDTV, Cook said, “The main thing I have learned about India is the warmth of people. It is unparalleled, unlike any country I have ever been to, including my own.”
Confident that he will leave India inspired, he stated, “I travelled to India this week to learn about the culture, learn how business is done. I have learnt a lot about all those, I still have a lot to learn. But most of all, I will leave India inspired. I am deeply inspired by the vibrancy of the people that I have met, the energy, enthusiasm and an incredible talent.”
Cook also pointed out how Apple is interested in picking up the talents from the grass root levels. “The talent here in the local area is incredible and we are looking forward to expanding our relationship and introducing more universities and partners to our platform as we scale our operations.”
“We are honoured to be here. We hope to be a key partner of the community here and hope for a lifelong friendship together,” he added.
Considering the Indian perspective of business and describing India to be “strategic”, Cook said, “India is much more strategic. We are thinking about a really long innings in the country. We are here for next thousand years. We are not making the most, but the best. We will never make a product that we are not proud of.”
Lastly, when asked him about his experience of watching the IPL match- Gujarat Lions vs. Kolkata Knight Riders, he said, “I found cricket unbelievably exciting. You can feel so much energy there, so much enthusiasm. I loved it. I’m totally hooked on it.”
Another peculiarly interesting prospect to this Indian tour of Tim Cook is his open acceptance of homosexuality. Being the only gay CEO and being listed in the Fortune 500 is to his merit. After his appointment as the new CEO of Apple, he confessed of him being a gay. He then used his titles and building popularity to promote the equality for the LGBT community and the need for a greater inclusion.
Now, during his scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he is expected to pitch up India’s stringent laws against homosexuality.
Cook has met Prime Minister Modi in the Silicon Valley earlier, when the Prime Minister was on his US visit.
