On Monday, the Parliament Street police station, New Delhi, lodged a case of rioting and unnecessary violence against the supporters of spiritual guru Asaram Bapu. His followers, a horde of around 2000 men demanded the immediate release of their preceptor, when they pelted the station overnight, injuring about seven police officials.
Carrying placards and banners, the supporters were demanding the release of Asaram Bapu when the chaos broke out. They also vandalised a nearby police van, along with damaging a few other vehicles. However when contacted one of the officials, it was stated from their side that no arrests had been made so far, with further developments yet to take place.
Asaram Bapu had been arrested back in 2013, on the account of sexually exploiting a 16-year-old girl and eventually many other females too. He has remained in the Jodhpur Jail in Rajasthan, ever since. However, he has denied the charge and refused to take up the claim.
