On Thursday, senior leaders of the Congress, unanimously voted to move a ‘privilege motion’ against BJP MP Subramanian Swamy and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, stating their behaviour of ‘lying in Parliament’ as the reason, in the AgustaWestland debate.
“These two leaders have been lying blatantly and brazenly,” senior Congress leader and member of Rajya Sabha, Jairam Ramesh remarked in his statement to the media. Swamy, apparently, has been reported to speak against Congress-head Sonia Gandhi and other veteran party leaders in the Parliamentary sessions, and kept referring to a document, that according to him could be an Italian judicial judgment. However, on detailed examination it was revealed that it was a 13-paged document, of which of two pages comprised of Swamy’s self-addressed emails, about nine pages to be downloaded from a US-based site: ‘www.pgurus.com‘, while the remaining two pages to be a part of some news story.
The ‘breach of Privilege’ notices against the two are most probably to be filed with the Rajya Sabha chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari by Friday, that is anticipated to be the last working day of the ongoing term, Ramesh concluded.
The party further announced that it shall file a defamation suit against the site, which is allegedly connected with the Sangh Parivar.
