The Queen has finally launched her latest album: Lemonade, and the excitement is real. The release took everyone by as much surprise as the name of the album. If opening about your marital problems is a big enough thing, composing songs revolving around those is a job best left for the music royalty to be dealt with. Been her most personal album by far, Lemonade talks the problems and difficulties of her marriage with Jay Z.
The entire album has 12 songs and guest stars The Weekend, Jack White and Kendrick Lamar. Not to forget, there is a special appearance from the number one tennis player in the world and an extremely powerful personality herself, Serena Williams. The powerful lyrics depict the pain, grief, sorrow and joy that the lady has felt and experienced throughout her married life.
It starts off with a feeling that Beyonce is telling Jay Z about her divorce plans and sings about being lied to and wronged. As the album progresses, it moves towards more severe pain and ideas of grief. But the third part brings hope and joy, but not once does it lose the fierceness that the entire album has.
She talks about celebrating her freedom, the freedom of black women everywhere. The final song of the album “All Night” is the opposite of the entire album. After all the rage and expressing anger and pain, she ends it with people who mean everything to her in an airy and dreamy ending. She is seen with her daughter, Blue Ivy and husband Jay Z. No one could have seen that coming and we could not have been happier on seeing her journey come to such a beautiful end.
The album is raw, real and makes all of us feel close to the singer. The lyrics are powerful, the music is dramatic and perfectly so, and Queen B looks as flawless as always. Turning the whole ‘When life gives you lemons’ phrase into ‘When marriage gives your lemons, write a song about it’, this album is a piece of absolute genius and is sure to set the charts rolling and ruling the hearts of fans everywhere.
