In the latest developments that have surfaced in the US shooting case that involved the killing of an innocent black teenager, authorities have released the dashboard camera video footage that clearly shows a white police officer shooting a black teenager brutally around 16 times in Chicago, last year.
Officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with first-degree murder for ‘murdering’ Laquan McDonald, 17. Officials state that apparently, he had ‘refused to drop a knife.’ Van Dyke said through his lawyer and police union that he had feared for himself.
Police use of instigating and overwhelming force against Afro-Americans has been the major subject of nationwide protests for several months now. “It is fine to be passionate but it essential to remain peaceful,” Mayor Emanuel stated in his statement to the media recently.
The state of Chicago has been preparing for possible protests, ahead of the release the police dashcam video. In Minneapolis on Monday night, one of those protests was disrupted by extreme violence, when three white men apparently opened fire, wounding around five people, though no death has been reported regarding the same.
A year to the day since violent protests took place in Ferguson, Missouri, US is once again on the talks of discussing the probavble circumstances that surrounds the shooting and the reoprted injustuce of a black teenager by the police.
