Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati, situated at Uddandarayunipalem village in Guntur district.
For this auspicious occasion the Prime Minister brought soil from the parliament complex and water from the Yamuna river which he presented to Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
The new capital strategically placed between Guntur and Vijayawada and has 17-km-long waterfront. The chief minister vowed to make this capital a dream city and promised to make it make it a major industrial hub.
Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Nirmala Sitaraman, AP and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao were present at the venue.
