President Pranab Mukherjee, late on Wednesday, rejected the bail plea of 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blast accused Yakub Memon, clearing the speculations that were going on for quite some time. In a final bid to escape execution, Memon had sent in a clemancy plea to President Pranab Mukherjee earlier in the day.
The President had then sent his plea to the Home Ministry, which had conveyed its advice to reject the bail plea.
Things becoming crystal clear now, Yakub Memon will be hanged tomorrow at 7am in the Nagpur Central Jail
The police officials have tightened the security in Mumbai and have urged people to not make any statement about Yakub Memon after his hanging. Strict actions will be initiated if any inflammatory speeches are made or derogatory remarks passed.
Senior police officials have been deployed in sensitive areas of the city to avoid any sort of safety and security problem. A few places, including the house of the Memon family, are under thick security and police presence, and as a preventive measure, the police have rounded up some miscreants, especially those who have a police record.
