As Bollywood headed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in full strength to support the IIFA Awards last month, a host of entertainers joined the team to create an evening high on crackling energy and performances to remember.
The introduction itself was crazy to say the least. While the background audio visual had the iconic Bollywood ki ma, Rakhi Gulzar asserting that her Karan Arjun will come, from the veil emerged a shocking Rakhi Sawant along with Arjun and Ranveer not as their ma, but a temptress draped in white.
Ranveer and Arjun, forever the pranksters, will be seen picking on the unassuming Sonu Sood as they playfully take his shirt off in front of the live audience to display his six-pack abs for everyone to behold. In fact, adding oodles of laughs, the duo will also be seen re-enacting the famous Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge scene between Kajol and Amrish Puri where Ranveer Singh will don the avatar of the long-haired Simran and Arjun Kapoor will be seen as the stern Bauji. As they present the perspectives of the different new-age filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar to depict how the scene would unfold if they were to direct the scene in their signature style, what ensues is pure hilarity. A sight to look forward to will be Hrithik Roshan performing grooving with newbie Tiger Shroff leaving the Live audiences completely awestruck.
The highlight of the evening, though, were the sizzling performances put forth by the biggest entertainers of 2014 – Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Hrithik Roshan. Be it Anushka’s uber-stylish Broadway performance, Shahid Kapoor’s dramatic rendition of Haider in Broadway style , Hrithik’s LED heavy act replete with stereolize mechanism or Parineeti’s powerful rockstar performance, the awards night will surely set a benchmark. The eye-catchers for the evening will be Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor as their performances recreate the best moments from the yesteryear. While Sonakshi presented a Dubsmash tribute to actors Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan while copying their signature styles, Shraddha Kapoor paid tribute to Subhash Ghai as she put forth a beautiful routine on some of the evergreen melodies from his notable films.
The night will reach its pinnacle with Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut bagging the top honours of the year for their respective projects, Haider and Queen!
Stay tuned to find out who else emerges as winners at the spectacular IIFA Awards 2015!
