All brands of instant noodles suffer the ban of Maggi

Nestle’s packaged food products have been hit hard, following the sudden ban over one of the country’s most popular snack- Maggi. There are further allegations over the company’s instant noodles sold under the same brand are high on lead content.

The ban over Maggi, has allegedly impacted all the noodles category very strongly. India’s largest retailer  Reliance Retail has out its hands down having temporarily withdrawn all the brands of instant noodles from all of the stores across India. Online grocers like BigBasket, Local Banya and Gofers too joined the bandwagon by thus deactivating the Maggi supply.

Not just the noodles, but all the other products by Nestle have been impacted greatly. Some of them which include soup, ketchup, mixes and coconut milk have dropped by 30 per cent.

Much to the delight of the other noodle making companies, a brand which was playing relatively smallin the market says that its sales have improves since the last year.

Much to the astonishing figures, Maggi holds a total market of 70 per cent and the MSG controversy has taken a toll on the entire instant noodle market which is roughly over Rs. 4000 crores.

In the que is ITC standing at the second position in being the largest brand, followed by Yippie Noodles and Top Ramen, Knorr and Wai Wai.
