IAS officers, yesterday, ‘deplored the way their colleagues in Delhi are being treated’ in a struggle for power between the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant- Governor Najeeb Jung, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has retaliated by tweeting.
“IAS association was sleeping like Kumbhkaran when Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary were humiliated and removed,” tweeted senior AAP leader Ashutosh Thursday morning, referring to the sacking of the two top bureaucrats by the Modi-led government at the Centre earlier this year.
On Wednesday, the IAS Officers’ Association met to discuss the escalating coldness between the Capital’s two leaders, that has ultimately resulted in one officer with the government machinery being publicly defamed, while the other removed in incogniti and ‘locked out’ of his own office.
Fellow officers passed a resolution stating that, ‘We view with anguish the way IAS officers have been treated and subjected to character assassination, we condemn it.’
Yesterday, the Lieutenant Governor wrote to the Delhi government saying that almost all transfers and appointments since the past few days stand cancelled or rejected as they were not approved by him. Amidst the reports of many bureaucrats requesting to be transferred out of Delhi and those working outside not wishing to return, CN Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia met the officers the other day. Meanwhile, official sources in the home ministry claim that at the least a dozen officers have applied for transfers, but have managed to receive only rejections.
