US President Barack Obama has hailed a deal that restricts Iran’s nuclear-power programme, contemplating it as a ‘historic understanding’, which if suitably and tactfully implemented could make the world a safer haven.
The agreement constructed after several rounds of talks between the nations aims to stop the city of Tehran from making a nuclear ammunition, in exchange for phased sanction relief. The proposed deal, however, is yet to be finalised by Iran and the six nations. The deal has ushered in fresh hopes and happiness in Iran, with the nation offering a grand welcome to the Foreign Minister Javad Zarif who played a pivotal role in the agreement. The conditions though are exactly the opposite in the nation of Israel that fears for its survival.
‘This will be a long-term deal, that addresses each path to a potential Iranian nuclear bomb’, said Obama in a statement, moments after the deal had been announced. He also stressed on the fact that if the nation would cheat, the entire world would come to know about it instantly.
Javad Zarif called the deal a ‘win-win outcome’, though highlighted that there is still way to go. Meanwhile, John Boehner, US House Speaker said that the deal had represented an ‘alarming departure’ from the President’s original aims and also the fact that the Congress must reconsider before wiping off the restrictions.
