Talks of negotiations regarding the nuclear deal between the five mega-powers plus one (P5+1)- US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany along with Iran resumed on Wednesday at Beau-Rivage, Lausanne, Switzerland, after extending the previously-scheduled 31 March deadline. The P5+1 or the mega-powers desire to make sure that the nation of Iran should not possess or assemble a nuclear ammunition in the span of less than a year. The Iranians, on the other hand, have persistently maintained their stand on not desiring anything as such.
US Secretary of State John Kerry, along with the English Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met their Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif early during the day, with the French, Russian and the Chinese ministers leaving the previous night, assigning the tasks to their respective deputies. Some officials remained skeptical regarding the talks. But according to the latest developments, the talks may result only in generalisations as of now, until some concrete decisions are finalised till the month of June.
In addition to some ‘sticking’ points on research and development in the issue, the ‘language’ of the proposed agreement has also ‘softened’. However, differences still continue on the scope and period of the removal of sanctions.
