The much awaited film of this year, helmed by skillful director, Anurag Kashyap, Bombay Velvet, is all set to enchant the viewers with its gritty storyline. Said to be a crime drama, this edge-of-the-seat thriller is creating a noteworthy buzz in the tinsel town due to the claim-to-fame factors which it holds with itself.
The graceful actress Anushka Sharma, who proved her versatility through her last outing NH-10 has taken equal efforts for Bombay Velvet as well. As reported by the Hindustan Times, this talented actress has donned a heavy attire for a sequence. The poster revealed recently shows Anushka wearing an emerald gown, which has a humongous weight of 35 kilos! She had to struggle hard for carrying this costume and was facing problems.
Apparently, Ranbir Kapoor is not ready to promote the film due to some impromptu reasons. With bouquets come brickbats, and thus the trailer along with million likes received mixed responses on You Tube, with Rishi Kapoor too disapproving the film.
Howbeit Anurag Kashyap had denied it, but it didn`t stop there. Further, the lead hero Ranbir, himself refused to attend the promotional events of the film, saying that he is not content with the look of the period love story and the final draft of the film. So, for the time being, Anushka and Karan Johar will have to shoulder the responsibility of promoting their film, however, the team is still trying to convince Ranbir to join the promotions.
To gain a huge publicity, Bombay Velvet`s trailer was launched on Star Sports 3 on the day of India-Bangladesh World Cup Match. This gave the fans a golden chance to watch Virat and Anushka simultaneously!
The central theme of the film comes from the book Mumbai Fables by historian Gyan Prakash, who is also one of the writers for the film. James Ellroy`s L.A. Quartet that comprises of the 4 books: The Black Dahila, The Big Nowhere, L.A Confidential and White Jazz are also said to have inspired Kashyap. It is probably the right time now to read these books and grow more anticipation for the film!
Recently, Anurag Kashyap got the rights to Geeta Dutt`s hit-of-the-time melody ‘Jaata Kaha Hai Deewane’ from the movie C.I.D. Originally picturized on Waheeda Rehman, the modern rendition of the song will showcase dainty Anushka which will also mark a turning point in the film.
Be it for Anushka’s lip surgery, Ranbir’s 60’s look or Karan Johar’s debut as a villain, the film till now is making up in the headlines and managing to grab enough eyeballs. It is for us to see now if Anurag`s dream project turns out into a true magnum opus or not on 15th May, 2015!
