Former CM of Bihar and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar swore in as the new CM of the state on Sunday evening as thousands of spectators watched on.
Kumar, on Friday, had met the Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and staked his claim to form the next government, following the exit of Jitan Ram Manjhi. He had earlier resigned as the CM after JD(U) suffered heavy defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Kumar had even apologised to the people of his state for his ’emotional decision ‘ to resign as the CM.
The swear-in ceremony was administered at the Raj Bhavan, under the administration of the governor Keshari Nath Tripathi. Dignitaries like the CM of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav, CM of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, former CM of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi & Deve Gowda, Shivpal Singh Yadav, Abhay Choutala were among those who attended the event. Along with Nitish, 22 ministers took the oath, 20 of whom had resigned from Manjhi’s cabinet as a mark of protest earlier this month with the remaining 2 being dismissed by Manjhi.
