Campaigns conclude in the capital with parties optimistic about their victory

The election campaigns for the February 7^th Delhi Assembly polls ceased on Thursday evening, with political parties making a final cursory attempt to pursue voters for voting in favor of their party. BJP, AAP and Cong jumped into conducting energetic rallies as the campaign trail entered its final phase, projecting their chief ministerial candidates in the forefront.

Kiran Bedi set-off for the campaign early morning, conducting road shows in the capital and the party president Amit Shah addressed a rally at Madanpur Khadar, berating the rival parties, particularly the AAP and its chief Arvind Kejriwal, BJP’s prime rival in these polls. Shah affirmed he is confident of BJP’s victory and refused to endorse the surveys projecting a victory for the AAP. He also contended that the election outcome cannot be a referendum on the functioning of Narendra Modi government.

The Aam Aadmi party held a press conference, a number of road shows were conducted and speeches given, flaunting their manifesto and promise to make Delhi a city of dreams. Firmly maintaining their confidence to attain majority seats, the AAP said, the verdict of the election could very well turn out to be a “turning point” in Indian politics. Assuring formation of a stable government, this time, the AAP urged voters to press on their symbol of the broom.

The Congress CM candidate Ajay Maken also appeared pretty much confident about the revival of the Congress party. He strenuously addressed rallies in the capital, despite the fact that majority pre-poll surveys have predicted an explicit defeat of the Congress.

Many also believe that this election is notably between the AAP and the BJP, two strong parties of the capital. Predictions of a tough competition between the two parties have already been reiterated. The middle class and poor people of the capital are graciously backing the AAP, while not many from the rich class are certain about them. The BJP too, has a significant support in the capital.

On Thursday, as the campaign day was coming to an end, support poured in for the BJP and AAP from respective groups. The Dera Sacha Sauda made their support for BJP official, while All India Imam Association declared their decision to support AAP. Likewise, the Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee requested people to vote for the AAP, as did CPI (M) leader Prakash Karat.
