The Aam Aadmi Party’s founder-member Shanti Bhushan emerged praising the Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, on Thursday, while saying that if she becomes the chief minister she is likely to provide a good government for Delhi. Bhushan also asserted that he would have been happier if Kiran Bedi was the Chief Minister candidate of the AAP.
Dispraising the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Bhushan said that he (Kejriwal) should be replaced as the party’s chief. He further said, as reported by the NDTV, “Yes, in due course he should be replaced. He has moved away from the ideal of Swaraj or democracy.”
Bhushan called the BJP’s decision to declare Kiran Bedi as its CM candidate a ‘master-stroke’, while telling ANI, “She would provide a very clean and efficient administration.” Bhushan also stated that all was not well within the AAP.
His son and senior AAP leader, Prashant Bhushan, however, registered disagreement with his father’s statement. “He’s a senior member, he can express his views, but I do not agree with Shantiji’s assessment,” Prashant Bhushan told ANI.
Commenting on Bhushan’s criticism and denying any differences within the party, the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said, “Everyone is free to give their own view in this country. We have a Lokpal where anyone can complain. If Shanti Bhushan has any complaints, he can bring it out. However, there is no internal damage within AAP.”
AAP’s spokesperson Ashutosh said, “Ours is a democratic party, he has every right to express his opinion. But party does not subscribe to his opinion, Kiranji has shown political opportunism and somersault on her part.”
Kiran Bedi, on the other hand, thanked Shanti Bhushan for his appreciation.
