As the manhunt for Charlie Hebdo attack suspects entered into its third day, a very peculiar incident unfolded in the North East of Paris, where the suspected attackers entered an industrial area, holding one hostage and injuring several others.
An operation was underway at Dammartin-En-Goele where the terrorists dramatically made a frantic move. Security officials immediately cordoned off the area and journalists were not allowed to be close to the spot for security reasons.
Television channels broadcasted live videos and French Radio reported that one had been killed. However, conflicting reports kept emerging and Spectralhues couldn’t clarify on it immediately.
Helicopters were moved over the area as French security officials were determined to detain the terrorists. 3-4 helicopters kept hovering aloft, supporting the security operation. Flights were diverted probably because helicopters were moved to the area and France sent its best security forces on the ground.
Three schools which were functioning at the time of attack were asked to shut their gates and students were kept inside their classrooms. Residents in the area were strictly adjured not to move out of their houses and offices, as policemen took their positions.
France’s Interior Minister said that an operation was underway to detain the suspects. In a televised statement he said, “An operation is underway which is set to neutralise the perpetrators of the cowardly attack carried out two days ago.”
