Powerful person and former Security Chief of China, Zhou Yongkang has been expelled from the Communist Party of China. The decision of his suspension was taken at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Moreover, the prosecutors have opened an investigation into the suspected crime of Yongkang.
The case of this suspected crime has also been transferred to the legal organs for examination. A meeting was scheduled on Friday to take these decisions.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee stated that the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee met on Dec. 1, 2013 to hear a report on the clues pointing to Zhou’s disciplinary violations uncovered by the CCDI. It was only after this that a decision was taken to launch an examination.
The issued statement also indicated that the investigation found that Zhou seriously violated the Party’s political, organizational and confidentiality discipline. He took advantage of his posts to seek profits for others and accepted huge bribes personally and through his family
Xinhua News Agency reported that the decisions ere made after attendees at the meeting deliberated over and adopted an investigation report on Zhou’s severe disciplinary violations, which had been submitted by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
Zhou Yongkang has now been arrested, and according to China’s Global Times, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate has opened an investigation into Zhou’s suspected crimes.
