Narendra Modi flags off Kathmandu-Delhi bus service

To deepen the ties between Indo-Nepal relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged of maiden bus service between Kathmandu and Delhi. In the first day of his SAARC Summit visit, the Prime Minister met several Nepalese leaders and inaugurated a trauma centre in Nepal.

In India, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari Nitin flaged off the first bus service from New Delhi to Kathmandu. The Delhi Transport Corporation will run Volvo bus via Agra, Lucknow and Gorakhpur The bus will take around 30 hours to reach Kathmandu and the fare would be around Rs 2,200 for one side journey.

“India is always ready to help save lives here. It’s an honour that we can get to save the lives of our own people. This is a medium of service,” Narendra Modi said at a trauma centre built by India at Kathmandu.

“Your happiness puts a smile on our face,” he added.

“There is a strong engine of trust and confidence between India and Nepal. We are cooperating in the field of defence. We are giving Nepal a Dhruv helicopter. We’re also working on the police academy here,” the Prime Minister said.
