Somali based militant group Al-Shabaab has taken up the responsibility for the attack that gunmen carried, by hijacking a bus and attacking some passengers earlier today. The attack that killed 28 people was conducted by these gum-borne terrorists who stopped the bus travelling to the capital of Nairobi, before hijacking it.
The gunmen separated Muslims from the non-Muslims and reportedly asked them to say verses from the Quran. On failing, they were ruthlessly shot and killed by the terrorists.
All of this happened in Arabiya, an area in Mandera, which is quite close to the Somali border. The militants, according to witnesses, were equipped with heavy arms and were ten in number.
Confirming its role, the militant group said the attack was carried in vengeance to the raids conducted on Mosques this week, while calling all those killed as Christians. According to reports in the local media, two days prior to the incident security officials had closed down two mosques in the coastal city of Mombasa.
Soon after the attack was reported, the local administration and Kenya government rushed security officials, medical staff and ambulances to the spot of ambush.
A major security operation was promised by Police Chief David MwoleKimaiyo. The incident was condemned by the erstwhile Kenyan Prime Minister RailaOdinga.
Earlier too, Somali based Al-Shabaab has targeted regions in Kenya. This terror outfit is said to be a part of Al-Qaeda militant group.
