Will they be able to make it a successful Love Story like others? Is there something different in their Love? Will they be able to keep their commitments in Love? Would they prioritise Love instead of their families and careers? Will this Love Story end with smiles on their faces?’Your love was all I had,’ a story about the journey of an aspiring doctor in Mumbai; from his life in a small town, to his migration to a bigger city for earning a degree in medicine and the quintessential degree in ‘Love’! A story about two people who are destined to fall in love, but not destined for each other’s company, for a ‘happily ever after’ story. This book hopes to acquaint you with the real meaning of Love in the age of social networking, where love begins on walls of ‘Facebook’ profiles and ends on confession pages!

In my view:
Love is eternal, but there are certain things which create barriers in this Your Love was all I had!relation. We claim to be modernized but the shadow of communal differences still haunts us. Ours is a secular nation, but does each one of us treat each and every community equally? Do we accept everyone the way they are? Author Kaushal Kumar Jha, through his debut novel ‘Your Love Was All I Had’, brings an emotional story of a doctor and his lover, and depicts how orthodox mentalities create barricades in relationships.

Riya and Rahul are the protagonists of this story. Rahul, an aspiring doctor lands in Mumbai from a small town of North India. While studying in a reputed medical college of the city, he comes across this beautiful non-medico girl Riya, who occupies a concrete position in his mind and soul. Riya turns out to be the daughter of an egoistic and orthodox professor Jadhav. Initially, everything goes fine between the two but all of a sudden issues of certain constraints arise.

Now, when constraints invade, things tend to become ambiguous. So, will they be able to overcome this ambiguity and find a solution? Or, will everything turn upside down for the two? To find what is in store for these two lovers, you need to grab your copy of the book and go through the story.

The cover page of the book is good but it could have been better. The title is catchy enough. The blurb is quite simple. The book begins with the description of how the author met Rahul, the protagonist of this story. The narration of the story is really intriguing and it successfully captures readers’ attention. The language used by the author is simple and comprehensible.

The story emotionally attaches readers to it, making the narrative strong and interesting in the beginning than in the end. The author’s writing style is really fascinating but I cannot refrain from saying that the story tends to become partially dull in the later part. This is why I found the beginning more enjoyable. Though the author stands successful in delivering some important messages, the story isn’t able to firmly hold attention for a longer time. To top the flaws are hefty grammatical errors in the book. Proper editing and proof reading is what the book genuinely requires.

Nevertheless it is Kaushal’s debut novel, and I am sure he’ll work on these things during his future projects. For now, I am in a dilemma whether to recommend this book or not, and hence I am leaving this for my dear readers to decide.
