The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday slammed Haryana government for intentionally not arresting murder-accused ‘godman’ who has claimed to be ‘unwell’ and stayed in his Satlok Ashram in Hisar, safely guarded by followers.
The Court had earlier given Haryna police two weeks time to arrest and produce Rampal ‘Majaraj’ in court. The Court strongly criticised Haryana government for “the will to arrest him is lacking.”
Giving the time till Friday to produce Rampal in Court, the bench said, “We don’t buy these arguments that he is not well. The state government’s inability to arrest him will allow even small time criminals to defy the law.”
The ashram can survive “maximum one week” with its current stocks, the government told the court, indicating that it planned to wait Rampal out.
The 63-year-old self-claimed godman is accused of murder and skipped court hearings 42 times in last four years.
