Suspended Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh, accused in Saradha scam, attempts suicide in jail

Kunal Ghosh, the suspended Trinamool MP, who has been in jail for his alleged role in Saradha chit fund scam, attempted suicide last night by consuming sleeping pills. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is still serious.

Former journalist Kunal Ghosh was the head of Saradha Group’s media cell and was detained by police in November last year.

On Monday, he had threatened in court that he would commit suicide if police did not arrest the “real culprits” behind the Saradha scam.

“Investigation is being influenced. It is not acceptable that I will rot in jail while those involved will roam freely. I am giving three days’ time, if action is not taken I will commit suicide,” Kunal Ghosh had said in Court.
