A day after Karnataka High Court rejected her bail plea, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is planning to knock Supreme Court’s door.
The court has rejected the bail plea despite public prosecutor’s assurance that he had no objection if the court granted conditional bail to her.
AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was convicted in 18-year-old disproportionate case in which she was awarded with 4-year jail term along with 100-crore fine.
Rejecting her bail plea, Justice AV Chandrashekhara said there “are no grounds” to grant bail to her as, “Corruption is seen as a violation of human rights of all.”
The supporter of Amma fell into despair after the verdict and started mourning. Even some of her supporters went on to hunger strikes and shaved their heads.
The new chief minister Panneerselvam, urged AIADMK supporters to stay calm.
“Keeping calm is the only way to express love for Jayalalithaa,” he said.
