Several Jihadist militants were killed as United States and its Middle East allies began its operation against Islamic State militants in Syria on Tuesday. The first day of the strike bought a partial success to the collaborated group. This attack targeted the centres of the militants, training camps and the areas used for storage of arms and ammunitions.
The U.S, in this mission, was joined by Middle East Nations – Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Soon after this attack on the IS locations in Syria, President Barack Obama issued a press briefing. He said, “The strength of this coalition makes it clear to the world that this is not America’s fight alone. Above all, the people and governments in the Middle East are rejecting ISIL and standing up for the peace and security that the people of the region and the world deserve. “
The ISIS has been repeatedly posing threats to several nations. President Obama had drawn a strategy to combat these threats by announcing that the United States will target ISIS location in Syria as well as Iraq and would act as a part of a broad alliance.
“Last night, we also took strikes to disrupt plotting against the United States and our allies by seasoned al Qaeda operatives in Syria who are known as the Khorasan Group. And once again, it must be clear to anyone who would plot against America and try to do Americans harm that we will not tolerate safe havens for terrorists who threaten our people,” said President Obama in his press briefing.
As U.S and its partners are carrying out this mission in Syria, Barack Obama is going to meet Iraqi Prime Minister and other partner’s in a United Nations summit. Through this summit, President Obama is probably going to try and get more support to this mission against Islamic State militants. Already, during NATO summit this year, several crucial nations had agreed to assist the United States in this mission.
Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Al-Jaafri, seems to be happy with the support that the nation is receiving through international community in combatting ISIS militants.
Meanwhile, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi has begun re-organizing Iraqi Military.
Leading Arabic Newspaper, Ashraq Al-Awsat reported that The decision is seen as part of a major overhaul of the military establishment and came 24 hours after the new prime minister ordered the arrest of two military officers in command of Saqlawiyah military base in Anbar, which took heavy casualties in an ISIS attack on Sunday.Troops stationed at the base, located only 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Baghdad, blamed poor leadership by senior officers for the heavy casualties they took, telling reporters that only 200 of 1,000 men stationed at the base had escaped the attack, and that they had not received adequate supplies of food, water and ammunition. However, some have played down Abadi’s decisions, arguing that the prime minister’s priority for the time being is to find consensus candidates for the posts of interior and defence ministers.
