Looks like hackers have targeted big names once again! After Apple iCloud attack, now it is Google’s turn. Russian hackers have hacked username and password of approximately 5 million Google accounts and posted the same on a Russian bitcoin forum btcsec.com by a user named Tvskit. As per Tvskit, almost 60% of these passwords are active one.
In its first reaction, Google denied the hackers’ claim and posted their view on their blog
It’s important to note that in this case and in others, the leaked usernames and passwords were not the result of a breach of Google systems. Often, these credentials are obtained through a combination of other sources. For instance, if you reuse the same username and password across websites, and one of those websites gets hacked, your credentials could be used to log into the others. Or attackers can use malware or phishing schemes to capture login credentials.
Google also announced that All the Gmail accounts are safe on Twitter.
