The long wait is over. The Nalanda University has begun its function on Monday with two schools, 15 students and 11 faculty members.
The classes are now open at the Rajgir Convention Centre, but will shift to new building within couple of weeks. Till the campus construction completed, state-run Tathagat Hotel will serve as the hostel.
Under the 2010 special Act of Parliament, the university has acquired 455 acres for the main Nalanda campus. The construction work will begin earlier next year.
The students have been selected through tough multiple screening and tests. There will be total 7 schools under the university and each school is to have a maximum of 20 students.
The admissions are still on. So far 15 students have been selected from over 1000 students.
