Jump – cuts has always been a poetic art in the cinematic world. The random tossing of fragments of the plot – their random fall – and, rhythmic interlace of mishmash of time and place challenges and locks human mind. And, this time, Devikumar brings in such a concept in his debut Celestial Hunt.
,The spicy relationship – the ground-breaking invention – and an eerie mystery that surrounds the plot is breath-taking. It starts with a plot to reckon. The impeccable style where the author tries to implement the literary expression of what can be loosely termed as “coitus interruptus” – where one on the verge of revealing the plot stops abruptly and then picks up a new fragment not in relevance to the previous one. The randomness of the style was supposed to make the reader reckless.
The start was decent. The author started playing with this style. But in the second half when it was time to knit the plot of reckless and obscured snaps to a meaningful and throttling feature – it became a dangerous showdown. The provoking of the edgy style of the author proved suicidal at the end. And, the “coitus interruptus” proved too dangerous an art for any amateur.
But it was the attempt. The attempt for something exceptional. Something path-breaking. May it have gone in vain. But, the gut of thinking overboard in appreciable and demand accolade. For a better next. For a transforming next.
