Embarrassment for Congress as the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah was caught on camera sleeping while the debate on alleged rape of a six-year-old at a Bangalore school was going on in the assembly.
Denying the charges, Siddaramaiah said, “I was not sleeping. Who told you? It is not correct, I was not sleeping during the debate. I was very attentive.”
The opposition BJP slammed the government over the increasing sexual crime against women in the state and demanded the resignation of Home Minister K J George.
Defending his government, Siddaramaiah said, “If resignation was the solution people in power should have resigned a thousand times earlier.”
A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two gym instructors of Vibgyor High School during school hours earlier this month.
Angry parents protested against the school as the reports suggest the school tried to cover up the incident and insisted immediate arrest.
State home minister KG George said that government will take tough action against the accused.
“We have conclusive leads,” he said.
