Dodital Trek

Dodital situated at a height of 3024 meters in Uttarkashi District is popular for its impeccable Himalayan beauty. Surrounded by tick forests of Deodar, Oak & Pine Trees it is a treat for nature lovers. The trek is also popular for its Dodital Lake, which has crystal clear water and is also known for its Golden Himalayan Trout. Most of the trek is through lakes, forests and high altitude passes. If you are a novice trekker and want to go on a relaxing and short trekking trip Dodital trek is one of the best way to start. Get close to nature by going on this trek and explore the hidden natural beauty of the Garhwal region.

How to Reach:

By Air – Dehradun is the closest airport in Uttarakhand.

By Rail -There are several trains operating between Delhi and Haridwar stations.

By Road – Distance between Dehradun – Haridwar is 43 kms and Delhi – Haridwar is 220 km.

Trek Route:

Trek from Dodotal starts from Sangam Chatti which is situated 15kms from Uttarkashi at 1350 mts above Sea level. The trek from Sangam Chatti to Agoda, which is the first stop is 6kms and takes 3-4 hours. Climbing to Agoda can be strenuous. Spend a night in the lap of nature in a camp along the Asi Ganga river flowing. From Agoda, head towards Dodital which is 16kms trek and takes around 7-8 hours. This part of the trek goes through dense forests showcasing the best of Himalayan flora and fauna. On reaching Dodital, witness peace and tranquility by the lake side or spend your time catching Himalayan Trout.

When in Dodital don’t forget to visit the Lord Ganesha Temple there.

• Do carry warm clothing, inner fleece body warmer.
• Wear comfortable trekking shoes.
