The Harvard University authorities claimed that the threat calls had been a hoax after police search the premises using bomb-sniffing dogs.
Several buildings on Harvard University’s Cambridge campus were evacuated on Saturday morning after police had received a call from a man who said he was on the campus with rifle and had placed few bombs at several campus buildings.
The police swept the campus immediately after receiving the call, however they did not find any gunman or bombs.
“While officials responded immediately and no indication was found to substantiate the threat, the buildings were evacuated out of an abundance of caution,” a statement from the university read.
“Police swept the area and did not find anyone that matched that description,” Cambridge Police Department spokesman Jeremy Warnick said.
“We’ve turned a lot of this information over to federal agents, and they’ll work to figure out where the call and tweets came from,” Warnick added.
