A very unfortunate news came in this morning at around 8:30 am. Newly appointed Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Gopinath Munde died in a tragic road accident this morning in New Delhi.
According to reports, Mr. Munde’s SX4 car was hit by an Indica car. The driver of the ambassador vehicle and Munde’s security official who were present in the car are told to be safe. This whole unfortunate incident took place at Aurobindo Marg of New Delhi.
The driver of the Indica car, which hit Munde’s vehicle has been arrested by the Delhi police. This accident took place while Mr. Munde was travelling to Mumbai from New Delhi this morning. Mr. Munde was rushed to AIIMS hospital where he was declared dead. He died due to a Cardiac Arrest while he was being treated at the hospital.
He was travelling to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport from where he was supposed to come to Mumbai. He was going to play a crucial role in the Assembly elections likely to be held in the state this October.
Ahmed Patel, Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi told media persons in New Delhi, “This morning while he was travelling from New Delhi to Mumbai this accident happened, little ahead of Mr. Advani’s residence. His assistant was there with him. Mr. Munde asked for water, drank it and asked to be taken to hospital.”
CNN IBN quoted AIIMS spokesperson Dr. Amit Gupta who said, “There was no breathing, no pulse, no cardiac function when Mr. Munde was brought to the hospital. Despite efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 7.20 am.”
The post-mortem of Mr. Gopinath Munde was conducted. His body will be flown to BJP headquarters in New Delhi by 12 this noon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be there at the BJP headquarters this noon. At BJP headquarter, senior BJP leaders will be paying homage to Gopinath Munde this noon. Mr. Munde’s family was informed about the incident and they have started arriving in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Extremely saddened & shocked by the demise of my friend & colleague Gopinath Mundeji. His demise is a major loss for the Nation & the Govt.” He also delivered his condolences to the Munde family.
Prakash Javdekar, Minister of State (IC) Information & Broadcasting, MOS (IC) for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and MOS for Parliamentary Affairs tweeted, “Gopinath Mundeji’s demise is a major loss to the Nation & Govt. We are with his family during this unfortunate & difficult time.”
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “V sad to hear the demise of ShGopinathMunde. Heartfelt condolence to bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi too conveyed her heartfelt condolences on the sudden demise of Shri Gopinath Munde in an unfortunate road accident.
Late Pramod Mahajan’s family, which is very close to the Munde family have also left for New Delhi.
As a mark of respect, today, the National flag of the country will be flown at half-mast in New Delhi as well as in the other states and union territories. Also, the Union Cabinet will be meeting today at 4 to pay condolence to the passing away of Gopinath Munde.
Later Munde’s body will be flown to his native place, at Parli in Beed where the funeral ceremony will be conducted tomorrow.
