After sweeping the state of West Bengal with unprecedented mandate, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has thanked people for trusting her party and acknowledging her government’s good work for the last three years.
“A section of the media was biased and campaigned against us with some motive. Even some central agencies became very active just before the last round of polls in our state. Still, people have voted for us and I convey my sincere gratitude to the electors. The CPI(M) has practically got washed out in these elections. I don’t understand what they have got by joining hands with the Congress and the BJP,” Mamata Banerjee said.
Trinamool Congress has won 34 seats out of total 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state and pushed Left Front to corner. Left has only able to win 2 seats.
However, Mamata Banerjee’s triumph was slightly scratched by BJP’s rise in the state. Not only the saffron brigade won two seats in the state but it also got whooping 17% voting percentage which is surely a worrying factor for Mamata Banerjee. Her dream to set up federal front too was washed out by people of India by giving a clear mandate for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
