A day after UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said Congress should support Third Front, Maharashtra Chief Minster and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has said that Congress is open to support a third front government if the situation arises.
“There are many reasons behind Congrss doing well in Mumbai. The possibility of Third front and Congress remains open,” he said.
Rejecting the election surveys which project Narendra Modi led BJP’s winning in the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls, Prithviraj Chavan said, BJP will not get more than 170-180 seats.
“Opinion polls and surveys have been wrong in the past. The same happened in 2009, UPA was given lesser seats,” he said.
Meanwhile Senior BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi has slammed Congress for supporting Third Front Government. Modi said that Congress is greedy and wants to remain in power by any means.
“A number of times, Congress has tried to remain in power by giving outside support to the so-called Third Front Governments but has always failed to deliver results. Be it IK Gujaral Government or HD Deve Gowda all have proved weak PMs under United Front rule. Both Governments were heavily dependent on the crutches of the Congress”, said Modi.
