The world is keen about his next directorial venture – and Steven Spielberg has added another project in his development slate. And, it is none other than “The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara,” written by “Lincoln” and “Munich” scribe Tony Kushner.
The movie is based on the David Kertzer novel. It revolves around the true life story of an Italian Jew who in 1858 became the center of an international controversy when he was removed from his parents at the age of seven by authorities of the Papal States and raised as a Catholic. He went on to became a priest.
Spielberg will be directing and producing this religious drama, which would be a co-production between DreamWorks and the Weinstein Co.
As per the sources, Spielberg is highly enthusiastic to get back behind the camera to revive the success of Munich and Lincoln with Tony once again.
