Amazon.com has launched a video streaming device, Fire TV at a base price of $99. Based on Google android OS, the steaming box connects a TV and internet connection via dual-band Wi-Fi. Fire TV allows users to transfer video directly to television.
With 115mm x 115mm x 17.5mm device, Amazon claims that Fire TV has better speed, performance and search functions than rivals like Apple TV, Roku 3 and Google Chromecast which are current market leaders in streaming services.
Amazon Fire TV has a miniature microphone in the remote by which users can make voice search. It also provides content from Netflix, Hulu and others.
“It’s the easiest place to watch Netflix. You can watch ‘Alpha House’ and you can watch ‘House of Cards’,” Amazon executive Peter Larsen said in New York.
The Fire TV is powered by quad-core 1.7 Ghz processor and it has 2GB of RAM. With a output of 1080p to HDTV at Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 sound, the Fire TV also sync with HDMI and optical audio-out for up to 7.1 surround sound.
The company claims that the inbuilt Adreno 320 graphics engine will give ‘lightning fast graphics and excellent fluidity.
One impressive factor of Fire TV is that there is no pause, interval or loading time on screen. For that only you can go ahead with it. However, the unfortunate news is that Amazon has not yet revealed any plan for Fire TV’s India launch.
