After his offensive and derogatory remark against senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and senior lawyer Harish Salve yesterday, Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti is finding himself in more trouble after the Ugandan woman has identified him as the one of the leading person who had assaulted her last week.
The Ugandan woman has confirmed Bharti’s presence in that controversial raid which was conducted at midnight of last Wednesday in Khirki extension and reportedly misbehaved with the girls.
The girls have said at the Saket Magistrate Court that they were harassed, misbehaved and beaten by the AAP cadres.
“We were attacked on Wednesday night by Indians who were led by Somnath Bharti. They are claiming we are blacks and we should leave their country. We were harassed, beaten. They had long sticks and they said we should leave or else they will kill us. I identified him because he came in the night and next day I saw him on television he was wearing what I saw last night. Police came in time and saved us from the mob,” both the woman said.
The Delhi Commission for women has already issued a summon to Bharti over his alleged misbehaviour with Ugandan women. Now all eyes on Delhi police on how they will frame the charges against the law minister after he has been identified by the victims.
Earlier BJP slammed Bharti and asked for his resignation.
“His approach appears to be a racist one. The party within days has become victim of its own unconventional style. Mobs can’t take decisions. They can at best be populist,” Jaitley had said.
AAP is but still trying to defend its law minister and his unruly behaviour.
“When Somanth Bharti interacted with the people, they said that they had complaint to the police on a number of occasions, but, still the police did not take any action. The party believes that it is the responsibility of the Aam Aadmi Party to cater to the issues of the people.” AAP leader Sanjay Singh had told reporters.
Somnath Bharti has been in news since he took oath as the law minister of Delhi. First his controversial spat with a bureaucrat, then CBI court’s verdict on ‘tampering evidence’, followed by harassing African women and threatening police. He even said he would spit at the faces of BJP leader Arun Jaitley and senior lawyer Harish Salve to mend their ways. God knows from where this arrogance comes. A self-proclaimed ‘anarchist’ chief minister and his ‘unlawful’ law minister – god save Delhiites, god save India!
