England dances to MJ’s tunes

England tasted defeat for the second time in as many matches in the ongoing Ashes series as Australia won the match at the Adelaide Oval by a comprehensive margin of 218 runs. It took the Australia even less than an hour to wrap up the tail of the English batting line-up on the final day of the test match. Mitchell Johnson was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his fiery pace bowling picking up 8 wickets in the match.

Australia beat England by 218 runs in Ashes second testThe English batsmen simply had no answer to some vintage pace bowling from Mitchell Johnson who picked up 7 wickets in the first innings giving away just 40 runs. In one spell in the first innings of the English batting Johnson had bowled 26 balls and picked up 5 wickets giving away just 15 runs. England could never make a comeback from such shocking downfall as they were all out for just 172. Australia who scored 570/9 in the first innings, thanks to hundreds from Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin, got a lead of close to 400 runs. In the second innings Australia declared there innings with 132 runs at the loss of 3 wickets setting England a target of 530 runs to score in the final innings. If Johnson rattled the English batsmen in the first innings it was the combined attack of Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris that left the English batsmen clueless. While Harris picked up 3 wickets, Siddle had 4 scalps beside his name. Johnson, Lyon and Steve Smith picked up 1 wicket each.

The next match is scheduled to begin few days time at the WACA in Perth. This will surely put England into further problem as WACA has always been famous for its fast and bouncy pitch. The English batsmen need to pull p their socks as early as possible; otherwise further humiliation is on the cards. On the other hand the Aussies are enjoying their home condition and are on the right track of seeking revenge for the 3-0 loss in the previous series earlier in the year in England.
