Sonia calls for Congress meet

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will meet top Congress leadership on Monday evening to discuss the Congress debacle in the recently concluded assembly election and also poll strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Sonia on Sunday said party needs to introspect its humiliating defeat in all four major states – Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Sonia Gandhi told reporters on Sunday said that her party is very disappointed with the poll results and will check the reasons for the defeat seriously.  

“This result calls for deep introspection. We have to understand to look at the many reasons for this defeat. We have to look into the way we did not take our message to the people,” Sonia said.

“Also, we have to look at our own party if it is well equipped in running an election (campaign), We will introspect seriously and we will take all necessary action … We will rectify our mistakes,” she added.

The Congress voted out in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
