The Board of Control for Cricket in India has expelled former Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi for life.
The decision was taken at a BCCI Special General Meet in Chennai on Wednesday.
BCCI’s disciplinary committee taken the decision to ban Modi over financial irregularities. There are 8 charges against him.
Disciplinary committee found Modi guilty on charges regarding bid rigging, favorism, threatening, mishandling of funds, taking facilitation fees, rigging the IPL Internet and broadcast rights.
Earlier in the day the Supreme Court rejected Modi’s plea to stop the Special General Meeting of BCCI.
Lalit Modi now can challenge the decision in court.
The SGM was chaired by president in-exile N Srinivasan. All 30 members of the governing council were present at the meet.
