Supreme Court rejects Chautala’s bail plea

The Supreme Court today rejected former Chief Minister of Haryana, Om Prakash Chautala’s bail plea in teachers’ recruitment scam. Chautala applied bail citing ‘health issues’ .

The bench comprises Justice HL Dattu and Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya said that Chautala’s heath are mostly related to his old age.

“A thought crosses our mind … if the petitioner gets a chance to come back to power, will he refuse it citing the ailments being pointed before us,” Justice Dattu observed. The bench ordered jail authorities to provide “proper, effective, efficient and expert medical treatment”.

The Court also asks Chautala to surrender by Septmber 23.
